From the ol’ Insta. LEDs for the sculpture! Big movement forward this weekend. Got a basic x/y model of the wings as a pattern, and then got sound detection working so the LEDs can change patterns based on someone speaking to the sculpture, sending their message. All in prep for putting about 100 feet of LEDs on the sculpture itself, and powering it with solar panels and batteries, targeting for next weekend. And all continually made possible with the indispensable people at and help of @upside_sf . The fortunate aspect of having a lot of things to do, is that when one thing isn’t ready you can often move forward on another. :-) #ledsculpture #sculpture #burningmanart Next step this week: getting basic unique pattern changes to result from unique input.
From the ol’ Insta. Just got received the solar panel and batteries, the last couple of items I think I need for the LEDs. Now the sculpture can prepare to reach its FINAL FORM :) It will be interested to see where I am on the other side of this weekend. #sculpture #burningmanart
From the ol’ Insta. All right. :) With the great help of the team on Saturday, the plans we put together, and another full day of effort on Sunday, the final physical construction portion of the project is done. :-) And it disassembles into a space less than 10 in wide, 6 ft high and 6 ft long. It really is something when a plan works out. Next and final phase: adding the LEDs. Also have solar panels and batteries coming in this week. Thanks as always to @upside_sf for being a great space to create in.
From the ol’ Insta. Had a long day of getting the sculpture set up. Grateful as always for the fantastic help of Mark, Katie and Allison. The results are not quite ready to show complete yet, so I’m going to go and put more work in tomorrow. In the meantime, here at the fabulous Fox theater getting ready to see some #hiatuskaiyote WHAAAAATTTT
From the ol’ Insta. Friday afternoon / early evening in the park. Just the best. Take a break, wherever you are. #friday #summer #bliss
From the ol’ Insta. Another pretty fortunate weekend of moving forward. Put together the second insert for the sculpture, it was too wide for the CNC machine to be cut out of one piece. Then applied the super classy Rust-Oleum finish :-) It’s all about what works. The piece is still have to be assembled, but that by now should be the relatively easy part. The challenge for the next few weeks will be all LEDs. Thanks again to everyone @upside_sf for all the great things they make possible. :-) #sculpture #burningmanart #diy
