Privacy policy: NeoGeoSeo browser extension

What NeoGeoSeo Does

NeoGeoSeo is a browser extension that assesses web pages for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). It uses the Anthropic API to analyze page content and return a structured score.

Data We Collect

NeoGeoSeo does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on any server. All data stays in your browser.

What Is Stored Locally

The following data is stored in your browser’s local extension storage (browser.storage.local):

  • Your Anthropic API key — entered by you in the extension settings
  • Assessment history — URLs you have assessed and their scores (up to 50 entries)

This data never leaves your browser except as described below. You can clear your history at any time from within the extension, and removing the extension deletes all stored data.

What Is Transmitted

When you click Assess, the extension sends a request directly from your browser to the Anthropic API (api.anthropic.com) containing:

  • Your API key (for authentication)
  • The URL you are assessing
  • A system prompt describing the scoring criteria

No data is sent to any other server. There is no intermediary, no analytics service, and no tracking of any kind.

Third-Party Services

The only third-party service used is the Anthropic API. Your use of the API is governed by Anthropic’s own privacy policy and your API key agreement with them. NeoGeoSeo has no affiliation with Anthropic.

Analytics and Tracking

None. NeoGeoSeo does not use cookies, analytics, telemetry, or any form of usage tracking.

Permissions Explained

  • activeTab / tabs — Used solely to read the URL of your current tab so it can auto-populate the input field. No page content is read by the extension itself.
  • storage — Used to save your API key and assessment history locally in the browser.
